I have found that it is not good for my soul to be sedentary for a full three days (I have three day weekends). So today I decided to go hiking in the Angeles National Forest. It is only 23 miles from my house and it is absolutely beautiful. I left early this morning to go. It was a wonderful time, really. Exhausting, but wonderful. I decided to do the "Devil's Chair trail" (http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/PunchBowl_4472.asp) which is approximately 7 miles roundtrip. It is a beautiful hike through the mountains which ultimately leads to a very foreboding rock structure that juts out of the mountain side, which is called the Devil's Chair. You walk to the end of this gigantic piece of rock and take in the view. The splendor of Our Lord's creation! It was a difficult hike and I was barely able to finish it due to the elevation and the relentlessly rocky terrain, but I did it and it was well worth it. I sat for nearly an hour on the Devil's Chair and sang hymns, read a chapter in a book, and recited the Jesus Prayer. It was startling silent up there. Not a soul in sight. It was a much needed break from the chaos of this evil world, even if there were hurricane winds! :-)
Anyway, here are some pictures I took in no particular order.
